Semax 10mg for laboratory research use only. Not for human or animal consumption.
Description
Semax is a synthetic polypeptide analog of adrenocorticotropic hormone fragment 4-7 (ACTH 4-7), extended with a Pro-Gly-Pro (PGP) sequence at its C-terminus to enhance blood-brain barrier permeability and biological stability. Unlike ACTH itself, Semax is not considered to exhibit hormonal characteristics but instead may exert targeted neurological action. Research suggests it may inhibit enzymes that degrade enkephalins, elevate dopamine and BDNF secretion, and modulate immune gene expression — making it a subject of broad interest in nootropic, neuroprotective, and vascular research.
Chemical Makeup Molecular Formula: C39H54N10O10S | Molecular Weight: 854.99 g/mol | Also known as: ACTH (4-7)PGP, HY-P1146
Research Highlights
- Nootropic Action — Murine studies found Semax elevated 5-HIAA (a primary serotonin metabolite) by up to 180% within 4 hours of exposure, suggesting enhanced serotonergic activity with potential implications for mood, cognition, and overall CNS function.
- Anxiety & Behavioral Modulation — In neonatal models exposed to SSRIs, subsequent Semax introduction appeared to mitigate anxiety-like behavior and improve learning abilities, with researchers suggesting the peptide may restore monoamine balance across serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine pathways — with effects persisting into young adulthood.
- Vascular Protection — Following experimentally induced myocardial infarction in murine models, Semax exposure over 6 days appeared to prevent diastolic pressure increases in the left ventricle, support cardiac remodeling, and ameliorate cardiomyocyte hypertrophy.
- Neonatal Deprivation — Adolescent rats subjected to maternal deprivation exhibited elevated anxiety and emotional reactivity. Following Semax exposure, anxiety and stress responses appeared restored to control levels.
- Neuroprotection — A clinical trial in 100 ischemic stroke models found that Semax-exposed subjects showed improved rates of neurological function restoration compared to controls, as assessed by EEG mapping.
- Memory & Focus — A small-scale clinical trial under high-stress conditions reported that Semax-exposed models exhibited increased memory recall and extended focus intervals over a 24-hour observation period.
