Selank 10mg for laboratory research use only. Not for human or animal consumption.
Description
Selank is a synthetic seven-amino acid heptapeptide developed to mimic Tuftsin, a naturally occurring fragment of immunoglobulin G (IgG) involved in immune regulation. Its structure combines Tuftsin at the N-terminus with a Pro-Gly-Pro (PGP) tripeptide at the C-terminus — an addition that may enhance its ability to cross the blood-brain barrier by modifying the peptide's lipophilicity and potentially engaging receptor-mediated transport systems. Research has focused primarily on its neurological, anxiolytic, immunomodulatory, and metabolic properties.
Chemical Makeup Molecular Formula: C33H57N11O9 | Molecular Weight: 751.88 g/mol | Also known as: TP-7, Selanc
Research Highlights
- BDNF Expression — Research suggests Selank may markedly increase BDNF mRNA levels in the hippocampus, potentially supporting neuronal survival, synaptic function, and neuroplasticity — particularly under stress-induced suppression of BDNF.
- Serotonin Signaling — Studies in murine models with impaired serotonin synthesis indicate Selank may boost serotonin metabolism in the brainstem, suggesting a potential pathway for mood and anxiety modulation.
- GABA Signaling — Gene expression studies found Selank exposure produced positively correlated changes across 84 neurotransmission-related genes, suggesting possible allosteric modulation of the GABAergic system with potentially longer-lasting anxiolytic effects than direct receptor activation.
- Enkephalin Regulation — A clinical study in 62 generalized anxiety disorder models found Selank's effects comparable to a benzodiazepine compound, with the peptide appearing to inhibit enkephalin-degrading enzymes and restore reduced leu-enkephalin levels.
- Memory & Cognition — Murine models exposed to Selank during four-day learning trials showed progressive improvements in conditioned avoidance response, with reduced errors and increased correct solutions, potentially via modulation of neuropeptide systems and neural plasticity.
- Immunomodulation — A 14-day clinical study observed peak elevation in IL-6 cytokine levels and shifts in Th1/Th2 cytokine ratios in Selank-exposed models, suggesting a regulatory role in immune system function.
- Cardiovascular Activity — In feline models, Selank appeared to reduce arterial blood pressure by approximately 32% within 3 minutes and increase cerebral blood flow by roughly 24% within 10 minutes, without affecting heart rate or respiration.
- Metabolic & Lipid Effects — Following a high-fat diet protocol, Selank-exposed murine models exhibited cholesterol and fat reductions of 25–58%, including decreases in LDL, VLDL, and triglycerides, alongside improved glucose homeostasis and prevention of weight gain observed in control groups.
