Ipamorelin is a synthetic five-amino acid peptide classified as a Growth Hormone Secretagogue (GHS). It works by binding to ghrelin receptors on the pituitary gland, potentially stimulating the release of human growth hormone (hGH).

Notably, it appears to be the first GHS selective enough to may increase hGH without significantly affecting other pituitary hormones like prolactin or ACTH. Elevated hGH may in turn promote IGF-1 production, lipolysis, and muscle and bone anabolism.
