Description
AOD 9604 is a synthetic analog of human growth hormone (hGH), specifically comprising the last 16 amino acids (176-191) of the GH molecule with a tyrosine residue added at the N-terminus for stability. Developed in the 1990s, it is considered the lipolytic fragment of hGH and has been studied primarily for its potential fat-burning properties — without the insulin-disrupting effects associated with full hGH.

Research Highlights
- Lipolytic Activity — Studies in obese murine models over 14 days reported reductions in weight and fat, linked to increased beta(3)-adrenergic receptor expression in fat cells. Additional research in obese Zucker rats showed over 50% weight reduction after 19 days vs. placebo, with increased adipose lipolytic activity and no marked insulin sensitivity disruption.
- Obesity — A 2004 clinical trial in 300 obese subjects over 12 weeks observed consistent weight loss throughout the study period, along with minor improvements in cholesterol profiles and glucose tolerance.
- Cell Regeneration — Research in rabbit models found AOD 9604 combined with hyaluronic acid produced the least cartilage degeneration among all groups. In vitro studies also suggest the peptide may promote differentiation of adipose stem cells into bone cells, stimulate proteoglycan and collagen production in chondrocytes, and support muscle cell maturation.
- Cancer Research — Early research suggests AOD 9604 may enhance the anticancer efficacy of doxorubicin against MCF-7 breast cancer cells, potentially by improving drug binding to tumor-related proteins while reducing exposure to non-target tissue.
