Description
Hexarelin is a synthetic hexapeptide growth hormone secretagogue from the GHRP family. It acts primarily at the growth hormone secretagogue receptor (GHS-R1a) — the ghrelin receptor — and has additionally been studied for interaction with the CD36 scavenger receptor, which distinguishes it from other GHRPs. Research has focused on growth hormone release and cardiac tissue models.
Chemical Makeup Molecular Formula: C47H58N12O6 | Molecular Weight: 887.04 g/mol | Also known as: Examorelin, His-D-2-Me-Trp-Ala-Trp-D-Phe-Lys-NH2
Research Highlights
- Growth Hormone Release — Research indicates Hexarelin is among the more potent growth hormone secretagogue peptides for stimulating pulsatile growth hormone secretion via GHS-R1a activation.
- Cardiac Models — Studies suggest Hexarelin may exert protective effects in cardiac tissue independent of growth hormone, attributed to CD36 binding in cardiomyocytes and vasculature.
- CD36 Interaction — Unlike most growth hormone secretagogues, research describes Hexarelin binding to CD36, a scavenger receptor implicated in fatty acid transport and angiogenesis.
- Receptor Desensitization — Research notes that sustained exposure may produce an attenuated growth hormone response, a characteristic studied across the GHRP class.
- Cortisol and Prolactin — Studies report Hexarelin may produce modest elevations in cortisol and prolactin alongside growth hormone — a distinguishing feature from more selective secretagogues such as Ipamorelin.
